Adrian Mendoza scored the lone goal of the game off a free kick outside the box and Freshman goalie Martin Acevedo stuffed a last minute breakaway to give the Tigers a 1-0 shutout victory against Cy Woods Tuesday night. Mendoza’ free kick places him in a tie for the team lead in goal scored with four. Acevedo’s six saves and gutsy play anchored Katy’s 2nd shut-out of the still young season. In the earlier match of the day Katy’s JV Red rallied from a goal down in the second half to tie Cy-woods 2-2. Katy hosts Deer Park Friday night, 7:30 at Tiger Stadium.
